With the arrival of the new coaching staff led by HSW Class of 2012 Graduates, Matt Schultz, comes with a new tradition of honoring one of the best lacrosse player in the world: Robert Pannell.

Rob Pannell (HSW class of 2007), a lacrosse phenomenon, carved his path to greatness through sheer determination and an unmatched work ethic. Despite his undeniable talent, Pannell faced an uphill battle in gaining recognition from major colleges during his high school years. However, his relentless dedication paid off when he landed a spot at Cornell University.

Throughout his high school career, Pannell’s lacrosse prowess was evident, amassing impressive stats that caught the eye of many scouts. At Smithtown High School in New York, he dominated the field, showcasing his skill with remarkable stats, including numerous goals and assists.

At Cornell, Pannell’s star continued to rise as he became one of the most formidable players in college lacrosse history. He consistently shattered records and led his team to victory with his exceptional scoring ability and playmaking skills.

Upon entering the professional realm, Pannell continued to excel, leaving an indelible mark on the sport. His tenacity and commitment to his craft propelled him to the upper echelons of professional lacrosse, where he cemented his status as one of the sport’s all-time greats.

Rob Pannell’s journey serves as a testament to the power of perseverance and hard work, proving that with unwavering dedication, even the most daunting obstacles can be overcome.

Prior to the start of the 2024 season, the members of the Varsity lacrosse team voted for one senior that embodies the qualities that define Rob Pannell himself. The recipient will wear the #3 jersey with pride, knowing that they carry on a tradition of excellence that honor not just one player, but an entire legacy.

Please join us in congratulating John Savino, who will be dress in #3 this year. John, who just came off a run to the State Semifinals in soccer, will be attending and play lacrosse at Merrimack in the Fall.
